Fellowship Hall Construction

Sep-Oct 2009: The floor has been poured, makes a huge difference in the building, it sure makes it seem more complete. We've gotten 3 drywells installed and some of the excavation has been accomplished. We have the plans back from the architect to do the mezzanine above the restrooms and the kitchen, now we need to get quotes to put up the red iron inside.

July/August 2009: This stuff moves along alot slower than people realize unless you have people whose full time job is to track down problems and get them moving. Although we have some volunteers tracking things down, it's not his full time job and he's really learning as we go and we are finding out that there are things we just weren't aware of. But that's all good, we really appreciate all of your time and dedication to this Bro Mike Whitley, without you and Bro Jeff Ward I don't want to think about where this project would be right now! This update I'll follow-up on the last update, the building is now enclosed and the windows are installed. The front doors won't be installed until after the slab is poured. The plumber has done his rough-in and it has passed, the electrical that needs to be done prior to the slab is done also. Our newest problem is the overhead storage that we were wanting to install above the restrooms and the kitchen, which we plan on running on out the length of the building. This had to go back to an engineer to redraw the plans because the second story cannot connect directly to the steel walls, it will have to be freestanding. Anyway, once we are beyond this hurdle we will have the rebar for the floor installed and be ready to pour the slab, hopefully this will be accomplished by mid-September.

June 24 2009: The roof is completed, tomorrow they will be closing in the rear 20' section that was left open to pour concrete, we have decided to use a pumper so we will just pump the concrete in through the front entry. The will be putting the windows in soon. We are taking what we believe are our final changes to get them signed tomorrow so that the plumber can pull his permit and get started.

May 15-31 2009: The steel is up, the walls and the insulation are almost all up. They are working to frame in some windows in the front of the building which is slowing them down some, they'll be starting on the roof soon. We were able to utilize the fact that there were 3 high lifts sitting on the property, the steel had laid on the ground for a little over a year so it was quite dirty. We borrowed and rented some pressure washers in order to get that cleaned up. We are hoping to finalize our kitchen plan soon so that we can get the public health certificate and get the plumber started.

May 1-15 2009: Contracted with Oberer Thompson Company for the erection of the red iron. Insulation arrived on the 15th. Working with plumbers, public health dept and electrician to continue the work to be done before the slab is poured.

March/April 2009 Because of delays in getting the deed recorded we were not able to physically get started in the building process until March of this year. Footers and piers are dug.

February 2009: Secured our loan.

2008: We are excited to announce that we have formally began construction on our fellowship hall. The steel was delivered in April of 2008, but a few things have delayed us. We recently purchased an additional acre adjacent to the church property. On August the 3rd of 2008 we had a ground breaking ceremony.
