(10-22-04) The DRPC is coming into it's busiest season. We have 2 Revivals in the making. | ||
November the 15th we will begin Revival with Bro David & Sis Karen Noe. We are looking very forward to having Bro David preach for us. This will be his first revival at the DRPC since he and Sis Karen went full time. Please make plans to attend if possible.
The Sunday after Christmas we will begin our New Year's Revival. Our guest speaker is a surprise. The picture to the right is the evangelists' wife. If you figure it out, drop me an email. I'll be sure to let "her" know that you seen her picture. :) |
(03-09-04)You are invited to our annual Pastor Appreciation Service scheduled for the 13th and 14th of March. On the 13th we will be having a dinner at the church fellowship hall at 5:30pm. Normal service times on Sunday the 14th. Bro Bill Finley from Louisville, KY will be our guest speaker. We invite you to share in our appreciation of Bro and Sis Sutherland for their 26 years of faithful and dedicated service to the Lord and the Dryden Road Church.
(02-19-04) I've been working on another project for some time. Well, it's rolling out today. Please take a moment to check it out The Holiness Messenger Online
(07-08-03) The new cd/tape is available. King Jesus was recorded by several young ladies from our church. Check it out!
(03-04-03) January 2, 2003 was the 25th anniversary of Bro & Sis Sutherland pastoring the DRPC. Bro Sutherland began his ministry in 1967 when he pastored the Scotland Full Gospel Church in Scotland, IN. The Sutherland's also pastored at the Tunnel Hill Pentecostal Church and the Dugger Gospel Tabernacle.
In 1969 the Sutherland's returned to Scotland where he pastored until the summer of 1972. After evangelizing for a few months their desire to pastor lead them to the Hilltop Pentecostal Church in Avoca, IN. They pastored at Hilltop from January 1973 until December 1977. The Sutherland family moved to Dayton, Ohio in January of 1978. The Sutherland family arrived in Dayton just ahead of the blizzard of '78, coincidentially this year on the anniversary of their 25th year at the DRPC we again experienced a blizzard.
Bro Sutherland has been instrumental in holding and preaching a standard of holiness in the Miami Valley. The Lord spoke to Bro Bennie early in his ministry and told him that he would send him from coast to coast and city to city to preach His word. The members of the DRPC have been witness to the answer of this prophecy, Bro Sutherland has preached at nearly every major campmeeting associated with the Holiness Movement in the last 25 years, and to his credit Bro Sutherland never turned down any "small" meetings either, if the Lord told him to go, he did. There were times when we missed him alot at the home church, but we knew it was his time to preach and that he was helping many others. To Dryden Road's great credit they never pulled the chain on Bro Bennie and asked him not to go.
Sis Sutherland has always been a godly example to all of us, we certainly appreciate her and as Proverbs 31:10 states "her price is far above rubies".
Pastor Sutherland received his Master of Theology and Honorary Degree of Doctor of Divinity from the International Bible Institute and Seminary while pastoring the DRPC.
Dryden Road has been blessed with one of the finest preachers in America. Bro Bennie not only preaches holiness, but the Sutherland's live what he preaches everyday before all of us.
Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine." 1 Timothy 5:17

(01-02-03) We just closed out our New Year's Revival. Bro. Larry & Sis. Bonnie Caudill were with us. We had a really good meeting. The Spirit of the Lord was present to help us in each service. New Year's eve brought us to our annual Watch Night Service. If you have never been to a watch night service at Dryden Road you should make plans to attend one in the future. The Lord was so close to us, it was a very special time. We would like to thank everyone who visited both our church and our website in 2002. We hope that you will continue to come by and visit with us in 2003. We at the DRPC hope that you have a Happy and Blessed New Year.
25 Years ago in a very cold January, something special happened in the history of the DRPC. Do you know what it was? Take a guess, the answer can be found at the very bottom of this page.
(09-01-02) It seems impossible that another camp has come and gone, but it has. The 2002 Indoor campmeeting at Dryden Road is in the books, and only the future will be able to show just how God moved for us. Below are several pictures I took during the week of some of the Dryden Roaders and friends that came to see us. We had another great meeting.
Bro. Dwain Galiher just preached outstanding, we are getting quite used to his powerful and insightful messages. We appreciate his spirit with which he delivers them and the power of their ability to help folks. Each night we were blessed to have Bro. Randy Webb preach to us from his heart, Thursday night he did not get to preach but he made up for it on Friday. The Spirit of the Lord moved mightily throughout the service. Once Bro. Randy got the mic you could tell that the Lord wasn't done working with folks. Bro. Randy preached great on the subject of David pulling the lamb from out of the mouth of the lion. Bro. Randy said he felt as though there were at least 5 people in the service that night that needed to pray. As the saints of God began to pray that the people who were bound in the clutches of sin could get free, 4 backsliders came to the altar and prayed. Bro. Randy said later that he again felt like there was at least one other person that needed to pray that night. Little did most folks know, but behind the church on Bro. Sutherland's front porch another dear soul was praying through to heaven's deliverance. Amid the rain, the thunder and the lightening several of us became witness to God's Grace once again.
Pictures from the campmeeting are available HERE
(08-07-02) Campmeeting is coming up in less than 2 weeks. Sorry I haven't done a little better to keep everyone informed. I've been busy...just like everyone else I guess.
Our day speaker this year is Bro. Dwaine Galiher. We don't need to say anything else about him, especially if you've ever heard him preach before, he is simply outstanding. It's always nice to have his entire family show up for camp too, they make a small army themselves.
Our night speaker is Bro. Randy Webb. He is one of our movements great preachers and a man rich in character and integrity. We are excited about having Bro. Randy back at Dryden Road.
Please make plans to be with us as much as possible. Camp starts Tuesday evening August the 20th and goes through Friday the 23rd.
(06-02-02) For those of you who haven't heard, Bro. Steve and Sis. Shannon are back in Dayton. I believe they got home last Wednesday. Bro. Steve is still very sore. He offered to show me his incision, I instantly declined the offer, I don't do to well with things like that, if you know what I mean. From the description alone, (which I didn't care much for either), it sounds like they cut him in half and fixed what they needed then put him back together. His incision goes from his navel around his side to his left shoulder blade. It's amazing what modern medicine can do, but we know that if it weren't for God and his amazing Grace the doctors would have never had Bro. Steve to work on. We are just thankful that he is home and doing better. Continue to pray for him that he will not only regain his strenght but be able to resume a normal life.
(05-17-02) GOOD NEWS!!! I just got off the phone with Bro. Sutherland. He said that Bro. Steve Phillips came through the surgery fine. Originally Sis. Shannon had told me that the doctor after reviewing Bro. Steve's case was only going to fix the aneurism and that the surgery should only take 4 hours. The news Bro. Sutherland gave was that once the doctor got in there it was more damaged than he originally thought, so he did make some other corrections and the surgery was much longer than the anticipated 4 hours. Bro. Steve has already responded to Sis. Shannon's voice, (she was probably telling him to take out the trash, ain't that what they always say?). The family is very upbeat by what has happened. We should all take some time to thank the Lord for this!
(05-12-02) Two important things are happening this week:
(02-22-02) A New look at DRPCweb! This is the first major change this website has taken. I wanted to get away from the frame version and I felt like this is a pretty good substitute for it. I would like for you, my readers to leave me comments about whether or not you like the changes. You can either drop me an email or leave something in the guestbook. I have certainly appreciated all of the great comments that I have received over the past couple of years concerning the site. I hope that you can appreciate this one as much as you have said you did the previous one. If you find any dead links please let me know about them also. You may run into a few pages that still have the old background, as you can imagine there are literally dozens of pages that I need to inspect. There are things I could and should have done to make this change a little simpler, I'll just have to add them now for the next big change. I want to tell each of you thanks for making this website successful. I know that without receiving over 15,000 hits over the last several years I would have rolled this thing up by now. Knowing that new people are finding us daily and that we constantly get repeat traffic has kept me interested and motivated, well alright, I get motivated now and then. I get paid to do this in my public job (National Air Intelligence Center). I must admit that I enjoy doing it there, and I especially enjoy doing it here. I haven't received a nickel for creating and managing this website, but when I read some of the emails that I receive and hear how things have helped others, I can truly say that knowing that what your doing is helping someone, it's a much greater payday than I could have received monetarily. Thanks for the read. Enjoy! Jeff
(02-02-02) The new year is off and running. We'd like to report that we had a great New Year's revival with Bro. Roger & Sis Brenda Boyd. Our watch night service was very special. Bro. Curt McCrory and his family were with us during our revival. They are from Missouri and Bro. Curt was introduced to Bro. Sutherland through our tape ministry more than 10 years ago. He had asked Bro. Sutherland if he would ordain him, which he did prior to the watchnight service. They are now our special friends.
We will be having Pastor Appreciation services in March to honor our pastor and his wife. Services are scheduled for March 21-24, Bro. John Gabbard will be the nightly speaker. After the Sunday morning service we will be having dinner in the fellowship hall. Please make plans to attend if you can.
Stay tuned...I will soon be rolling out a new version of our site. The new site will be frameless, I know that there are alot of folks who despise frames, so I'm gonna switch. I'll be asking for your feedback to try to make things better. I appreciate everyone who has taken the time to drop me a note or leave a message on the guestbook with a praise about our site. It's alot of work, but there is also some enjoyment in it too.
(12-28-01)Wow...it's been awhile since I updated the site. Sorry it's taken such a long time. It's been a busy time. Since I last wrote we had
a great revival with Bro. & Sis. Switzer. They both did a fantastic job as always.
We are currently in Revival through the 31st with Bro. Roger & Sis Brenda Boyd from
Cedar Bluff, VA. Bro. Roger is one of the greatest men in our movement. We will be having communion and footwashing on New Year's Eve. Please come if you can.
We have had a great Christmas and hope that you have had the same with your family.
It seems 9-11 has changed so much in the way we look at things, this could be God's way of getting our attention in the last days. Remember to pray for our servicemen and
for our leaders. It seems as Esther was brought to the kingdom for such a time as this, so has God allowed our leadership to change for the events that we have faced.
(9-06-2001)Fellowship Meeting 2001 is in the books, and what a great one it was. I know of several folks who listed it as one of the best if
not the best they have attended. It certainly was great in the way that the Lord moved in bringing backsliders back to the church and reviving
the church as a whole. We had a full house every night. Bro. Dwaine Galiher preached outstanding during the morning services, we are getting so accustomed to hearing great things from him
and to this point he has yet to disappoint us. Friday morning was very special in the fact that Bro. Sutherland asked Bro. Bill Addis to start things off
in the morning service, this was quite different than what we are used to, nevertheless Bro. Addis preached great on being sanctified, and then Bro. Dwaine's
message almost mirrored Bro. Bill's.
Our afternoon and youth services were great too, each preacher doing outstanding!
Bro. Norman Smith did outstanding in the evening services. Several nights it looked as though we would have a good old fashioned gully washer, and that the
preaching would be held over until the following evening. But Bro. Sutherland's desire was to see some of our prodigals come back home, and the Lord let up on the
blessings long enough to allow Bro. Norman a space to preach. And preach he did!
We had several pray back through, and countless others were revived. The DRPC had been going through it for sometime, but as the song says "He may not come when
you want him, but He'll be there right on time!". "The blessings of the Lord maketh rich..."
Special Thanks from all at the DRPC for those of you who made sacrifices to be with us, we hope that you had a great time in the Lord and with us. For those of you
who did not come, we hope that you can make arrangements to be with us next year.
The following Sunday after the meeting the Lord again moved in a mighty way in our midst, there was a message in tongues and interpretation. He told us that He
had seen us in our trouble and that he loved us and was gonna bring us out. We certainly are thankful for what the Lord has done and for what he is going to do in the future.
I know you want to see pictures, I have plenty of them. We are leaving tonight for Bond Campmeeting so you'll have to wait a few more days for them.
In patience possess ye your souls".....Bro. Jeff
(7-27-2001)We closed out our Youth Crusade on Wednesday the 25th of July. A great time was had by all. There was lots of games, a lot of heat,
fun, singing, hot humid temperatures, a lot of the gospel, more heat and more gospel. Bro. JR & Sis Theresa did a great job, the success was proof
of that. On Wednesday evening 28 young people testified to the fact that the Lord had done something for them. Only the God of Heaven knows the seeds
that were possibly planted in hearts this week. You see, there were alot of church kids at the crusade who hear the gospel preached 2, 3, and 4 times
a week, but mingled among those were some of Dayton's inner city kids that ride on our Bus and Van routes each week for Sunday School. The gospel that
we provide them with may be all that they ever get. Alot of them come from rough backgrounds, so if we could touch just a few of them in this crusade it
would truly be considered a success.
Special thanks are in order to Bro. Darius & Sis. Kim Templeton and Bro. Denny & Sis. Beverly Blevins. As Youth leaders/assistants these two young couples
put in alot of time and hard work to make this a success. Thanks to all that helped in any manner, setup, tear down, skits, driving buses & vans, whatever
you did it was appreciated.
Oh, and by the way. JR got the pie!! (Phillip Hoskins too). Pictures coming soon...I promise. Jeff
(7-21-2001)It is with great sadness and heaviness of heart that I must report that Bro. Monroe Jackson died yesterday, 20 July 2001. Bro. Monroe was a special friend to a lot of people and heaven's gain will be our great loss. Bro. Monroe was a great man who would do everything he possibly could to help someone in need. He was a great church worker! Bro. Bennie Sutherland will be returning from Florida to preach Bro. Monroe's funeral in McKee, Kentucky. He will be laid to rest in the Seven Pines cemetery in Annville, KY on July 23, 2001. A special "Thanks" to Bro. John and Sis. Ann Gabbard for taking care of Bro. Jackson in his last days.
(7-09-2001)Bro. Sutherland just returned from the Jersey Campmeeting in south Georgia. He said they had good services but that it was mighty warm down there. The temperature and humidity levels are just starting to climb here in southwest Ohio. Bro. Darius & Sis. Kim also just returned over the weekend from a week long trip to Dolphin Bay, Alabama. They took about 16 young people with them on their excursion. Bro. Darius said it was real hot there too, but all had a good time.
There is going to be a Youth Crusade the 23-25th of July. Bro Jr Alexander will be the main speaker and the theme is going to be "Shipwrecked but Saved". It is sure to be 3 nights of fun filled excitement for the kids! Bro Darius and Sis Kim have worked really hard this year to keep the young people enthused and busy. Bro Denny & Sis Bev Blevins are also a huge help to them in the youth work. All of the work our youth workers do is certainly appreciated. Our youth are some of the most important folks we can ever hope to persuade for holiness.
Bro. Sutherland will be in Haines City, Florida beginning the 19th-21st of July at Bro. Chris Whiffen's church. If you are in that area please drop in and see them, I know they would be thrilled to have you.
(6-04-2001)Yeah I know, you thought I was never going to update the webpages again, well, as you can see you were
wrong!! I thought I'd give you a quick update on what's going on and what is coming soon. I'll then get to the "coming soon"
parts as soon as I can. Please be patient though, nothing is gonna happen real fast. My wife and I are in the middle of a move, our
church business meeting is coming up this Sunday, (and there's lots of work for the treasurer to do to prepare for it), but I promise
it won't be as long as it's been since my last update. I'm actually kind of ashamed. Well, let's get to it....
Well, that's all I have time for right now. I know it's not much, but I wanted the folks who are faithful to check in with us to know that I haven't abandoned the web. As the famous WWII General Douglas MacArthur once said, "I shall return!".....until then, Bro. Jeff
(01-10-2001)FINALLY....We are finally near completion in our remodeling. There are a few small things that need finishing, but at this point we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. We celebrated Tuesday night the 9th of January with our first service in the sanctuary since moving to the fellowship hall in early October. After many delays the pew installation began on Monday the 8th and they finished up on Tuesday about an hour before service started. Bro. Darius Templeton asked Bro. Sutherland to preached the youth service so that he could initiate the new surroundings. The church is beautiful and for those who disliked our previous green surroundings....well, I think you might take up better with this. We would like to thank all those that participated in the work. A special thanks is due to Bro. Steve Phillips for his work. Although Bro. Steve is unable to work at the same pace and endurance he once did, and though he had days where he was unable to work, his dedication to the work and his carpentry experience and knowledge was without question a huge asset to our efforts. Thanks to all the other folks who assisted, I won't name names, I know I'd leave someone out, but you know if you spent time there, all are appreciated....from the folks who pulled up carpet, took out pews, took out trash, stained, painted, put down subfloor, put up drywall, lighting and electrial, took out trash, laid flooring, ran errands, paid bills, put up woodwork, designed, took out trash, built walls, was there to carry in new carpet, poured concrete, took out trash......well, you get the picture. THANKS!!! Now, for those of you haven't seen it yet, come and see it and enjoy it with us!
(11-17-2000)Greetings everyone!! It's been a while since I have updated any of the information, please forgive me. We have been extremely busy in our efforts to get the sanctuary remodeled. The efforts are moving along. We will soon be done with everything we can do and will be forced to wait upon others to complete their commitments, such as pews and chairs. We have just recently been delayed again in our shipment of pews and chairs, it is getting quite frustrating. We now have carpet laid everywhere except for the pulpit area where we are completing the final phase of woodwork. I took some pictures showing the new carpet just today but I forgot and left my camera at the church. So check back soon, I'll post them as soon as I get a chance. Our folks will be extremely glad to get back into the sanctuary, we sold all of our pews to 2 different churches, so we are no longer on pews in the fellowship hall. Bro. Sutherland has renamed the congregation as The First Church of the Folding Chairs.
(10-06-2000) We have begun a major phase in our remodeling. The congregation was forced to vacate the sanctuary and we have started holding services in the church fellowship hall. It's not to bad, although it will only hold a little more than half of our pews, it may get a little tight, but we will persevere. Carpet has been removed throughout the church, the altar is being redesigned to allow for steps in front of the podium along with placing a wooden top on the altar so that folks will recognize it for what it is, and not for a step. Painting will commence Saturday the 7th of October. We still have a little more redesigning to do on the platform, our intentions are to build out the right side of the platform to match the left side, replace the drywall on ceiling, place can lights on ceiling, and replace the back mural with another. You can view some of what we have done and also take a look at our "new" sanctuary....plus your friends. Click Here
(07-10-2000)Please remember to keep Bro. Steve Phillips in your prayers. Bro. Steve is able to get around but he still experiences discomfort frequently. If you would like to email Bro. Steve or Sis. Shannon I am sure they would be glad to hear from you.
